August 2023 - SMS Gateway Features Description

SMS Gateway Features to be Released:

1. Send an automated system response after the webhook retry logic fails

Feature description:

For Flowcharts leveraging webhook functionality, SMS Gateway can now send automated responses to inform recipients if a system is down by sending them a personalized message to invite them to retry later or instruct them what to do next. This can be implemented if a webhook is not responding to a flowchart due to an outage or in cases of high volumes.

Business value:

With this feature, organizations can now proactively communicate with their customers in real-time if there is an outage or disruption in their integrated systems. This allows organizations to keep customers informed, minimizing frustration and confusion during downtime.
By leveraging this feature, businesses can maintain customer satisfaction, build trust, and demonstrate transparency in their operations. The automated SMS response during software outages provides an efficient solution to promptly address unexpected disruptions, ensuring a seamless customer experience.

2. Global Keywords with regular expression

Feature description:

SMS Gateway now allows the use of regular expressions in Global keywords. This addition provides enhanced flexibility and customization options when creating keyword-based triggers for automated responses or actions.

Business value:

This enhancement allows SMS Gateway to interpret additional customer responses and respond appropriately at any time – even when recipients are not currently in a flowchart. For example, SMS Gateway can now capture personalized coupon/offer codes without prompting the customer or having the customer already exist in a flow.

Regular expressions are a powerful tool used to identify patterns within texts or strings. With this new feature, organizations can now match and interpret a wide range of keyword variations within Global Keywords.

3. Improve reporting by adding option to extend sessions during SMS conversations

Feature description:

This enhancement allows a tree session to keep-alive between reassignments. With this enhancement, the webhook destination URL can do external work such as booking an appointment and reassigning the customer without creating a new session.

Business value:

This enhancement allows for improved reporting on customer conversations and interactions. Marketers can better analyze the customer’s touchpoints with SMS Gateway to report on the full picture of the customers engagement with your brand over SMS.

4. Ability to specify fields when querying transactions

Feature description:

This enhancement allows for the ability to specify fields when querying transactions. Currently, the request for a CSV report returns a standard set of attributes in CSV format. This enhancement allows flexibility to select which columns are displayed in the CSV report. Additionally, a new timestamp ‘created’ was added to the transactions table for inbound and outbound transactions.

Business value:

The ability to specify fields when querying transactions gives organizations control over which attributes are displayed in csv reports.

The addition, the created timestamp allows for display of messages chronologically in reporting tools, conversation audit and communication follow-ups. The new timestamp fields are available in Adobe Campaign (inbound and outbound) and the new fields can be used as a query parameter when accessing data via the API.

5. UI enhancement – addition of an improved Transaction Detail Page that displays data associated with a transaction

Feature description:

Improved the transaction detail page so a user can observe the properties associated with a transaction, including: Node Name, Outbound Message, Customer Response, Priority, Last updated, Node Details, Webhook url and Portal target.

If the transaction failed, the Transaction Detail page will display the Error Code, HTTP Code, Error Message and Time the failure occurred.

Business value:

SMS Gateway now displays in a consolidated view details about the transaction so an end user can see all the information for a given transaction on the transaction detail page. This improves visibility and monitoring in the application.

6. Ability to authenticate using the Oauth2 standard

Feature description:

Enhancement related to the ability to authenticate using Oauth2 Standard.

Business value:

Improved security of the application.

7. New Feature that allows SMS Delivery files to be sent to SMS GW using an SFTP server

Feature description:

With this new feature, users can simply send a file containing their SMS message content directly to SMS Gateway using SFTP. By leveraging SFTP for file upload, we speed up the transmission of bulk outbound messages while ensuring the secure transmission of data, protecting the confidentiality of sensitive information and maintaining privacy.

Business value:

The ability to upload files over SFTP significantly improves the performance of SMS sends, enabling organizations to send large volumes of messages quickly and efficiently. This feature is particularly useful for organizations that regularly send bulk SMS campaigns or notifications requiring personalized message content.

8. Rate Limiting – New feature to grant users control over Delivery Throughput through SMS Gateway

Feature description:

SMS Gateway introduces a new feature that gives end users greater control over message sending rates via Rate Limiting. This feature allows users to configure the desired rate at which SMS gateway sends messages for each message type. This gives organizations the ability to customize and optimize their message sending rates.

Business value:

With Rate Limiting, users can set specific sending speeds for different message types based on aggregator requirements. This gives flexibility to prioritize certain message types or manage the delivery pace to ensure optimal performance.

By allowing users to define the sending rate, SMS Gateway ensures efficient resource allocation, preventing potential congestion or bottlenecks. This results in improved delivery success rates and enhances overall system performance.

9. Performance enhancement – Improved performance when using high-priority queue mechanism

Feature description:

A performance enhancement was introduced that improves SMS Gateway’s management of high priority messages.

Business value:

Improves performance and throughput when using SMS Gateway priority queue. This feature ensures that inbound messages get process before outbound batch campaign messages.
