Munvo at TASUG 2026: Exploring SAS Analytics and Modernization
Some of the most useful conversations about analytics start with the work teams do every day: checking data, maintaining code, and deciding how to move existing processes forward.
Our team attended the Toronto Area SAS User Group (TASUG) Fall Meeting, connecting with SAS professionals to share ideas and explore practical approaches to analytics. As a SAS Gold partner, we value these opportunities to learn from the community and bring fresh perspectives to our work with clients.
The program brought together perspectives from banking, government, and consulting, alongside technical sessions on SAS tools. For us, those topics connect with a familiar challenge: helping organizations improve their capabilities while supporting the processes their teams already depend on.
Stronger Data Quality, More Confident Decisions
An unexpected shift in customer data can change how a team interprets campaign performance or builds its next audience. Before acting on it, teams need to establish whether it reflects customer behaviour or an issue in the data.
Repeatable data quality checks and anomaly screening help make that distinction. Techniques such as Benford’s Law can flag unusual numerical patterns for further investigation, where appropriate for the dataset. They provide a starting point for asking better questions about the results.
For Munvo, the value lies in making these checks part of the analytical workflow. Identifying issues before data reaches segmentation, reporting, or campaign execution can reduce rework and help teams make decisions with greater confidence.
Modernizing SAS While Preserving Business Logic
Moving from SAS 9 to SAS Viya involves more than converting code. Existing workflows often contain years of business rules and dependencies that support daily operations. A migration needs to account for how those processes work and what their users expect them to deliver.
Automated migration approaches can help with the technical work. Validation remains essential: a process may run successfully while producing an audience or report that differs from business expectations.
Consider a recurring customer audience. Its selection criteria, exclusions, and outputs all need to be checked as part of the move. Involving the teams that use those outputs helps establish whether the migrated workflow still serves its purpose.
Our perspective is that a successful modernization plan connects technical progress with operational continuity. Prioritizing critical workloads and agreeing on validation criteria early gives teams a clearer path forward.
Making Productivity Gains Useful to the Business
Coding assistance can help practitioners draft and revise SAS code, creating opportunities to spend less time on routine tasks. The practical value depends on whether the resulting work is accurate, maintainable, and suitable for its intended use.
Review and testing need to remain part of the process. For a customer analytics team, time saved writing code is valuable when it helps deliver a reliable analysis sooner or gives practitioners more time to investigate a business question.
At Munvo, that is how we assess new capabilities: through the work they help teams accomplish. Defining the task, checking the output, and measuring the improvement gives organizations a practical basis for deciding where a tool belongs in their workflows.
Continuing the Conversation with the SAS Community
TASUG brought together professionals working with SAS in different industries, each with their own priorities and experience. For our team, the value of participating is in that exchange: learning how others approach familiar challenges and considering what those perspectives could mean for our clients.
As a SAS Gold partner, Munvo helps organizations connect their technology investments with their marketing and customer intelligence goals. The meeting’s focus on data quality, analytical workflows, and modernization touched on the foundations that support that work.
Thank you to the TASUG organizers and presenters for bringing the community together. We look forward to continuing these conversations at future SAS events.

At TASUG, Munvo emphasized that reliable analytics depends on repeatable data quality checks, validated SAS 9-to-Viya migrations, and reviewed AI-assisted coding.
Teams should screen data for anomalies before it reaches campaigns, validate migrated workflows against business expectations rather than just converting code, and test AI-generated code for accuracy. Munvo judges new tools by the real work they help teams accomplish.
